Bharatanatyam

Bharatanatyam

At Thapasya, we teach Bharatanatyam in a blend of Kalakshetra and Vazhavoor styles, providing students with a strong foundation in technique, rhythm, expression, and storytelling. Through structured training, students develop grace, discipline, confidence, and a deep appreciation for one of India's most revered classical dance forms.

Mohiniyattam

Mohiniyattam

At Thapasya, we uphold the authentic grace of Mohiniyattam in the Kerala tradition, nurturing the elegance, fluidity, and expressive beauty that define this classical art form. Students learn the intricate movements, facial expressions, and rhythmic patterns that help bring stories and emotions to life through dance.

About Satheesh Moonnukandathil

Satheesh’s dance journey began at just eight years old, learning Bharatanatyam from Guru Sri Sabu Sebastian. He later honed his craft under Dr. Vasant Kiran and developed his Mohiniyattam skills with Dr. Kalamandalam Danusha Sanyal and Dr. Methil Devika. A three-time Kalaprathibha title winner in Wayanad, Satheesh combines traditional techniques with modern, personalized methods that match each student’s abilities. Although he’s a healthcare professional by day, his passion for dance shines through in his dedication to teaching students of all ages.

Classes in Berwick and Clyde North follow a structured format: warm-ups and conditioning, core movement training (adavus, gestures, eye exercises), and expressive practice to refine skills and artistry. Each session fosters discipline, precision, and emotional expression in every dancer. Have questions about our programs or classes? Ohm Sri Gurubhyo Namaha
I consider myself truly blessed to be part of a great lineage of Gurus who have shaped my understanding of dance, tradition and the responsibility that comes with carrying an art form forward. For me, dance is not simply a profession-it is a way of life. It has been a constant presence in my journey, and I believe I am destined to teach, nurture and share this beautiful art with the next generation.Teaching brings me an extraordinary sense of purpose. Watching a child take their first steps in dance, gradually develop discipline and confidence, and eventually grow into an accomplished dancer is one of the most rewarding experiences a teacher can have. Their growth gives meaning to my own journey as an artist and teacher. At Thapasya Academy of Dance, I strive to create an environment where tradition is respected, technique is pursued with precision, and every student is encouraged to discover their own potential. I teach with my heart, soul and conviction, while remaining deeply connected to the values, discipline and knowledge passed down through my Gurus. My greatest aspiration is not merely to create dancers, but to help shape thoughtful, disciplined and expressive artists who understand the depth and beauty of the tradition they inherit.I walk this path with gratitude—for my Gurus, my students, their families, and for the immense privilege of being able to dedicate my life to dance. With gratitude, discipline and an unwavering love for the art, I continue the journey.

I look forward to guiding students with dedication, care, and passion.
